  • 2 cups milk Using whole milk is recommended for a richer flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Feel free to experiment with other extracts.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk and butter until melted. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the cooled milk mixture and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Serve warm or at room temperature. Pairs perfectly with whipped cream, fresh fruit, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
