Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Sear the chicken in the skillet until golden brown on both sides (about 4-5 minutes each side).
- Remove chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add mushrooms and onions, then sauté until softened.
- Add chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, bringing it to a simmer.
- Place the chicken back into the skillet and spoon the mushroom-onion mixture over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack cheese on top of the chicken.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve hot.
Notes
Pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or a fresh salad. For a more festive touch, garnish your plate with fresh herbs like parsley or chives. For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in Worcestershire sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
