Stuffed Seafood Shrimp Bread Bowl

Ingredients
  

For the bread bowl
  • 1 large sourdough round bread bowl
For the seafood filling
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined Fresh is best for flavor
  • 1/2 cup lump crab meat Can substitute with crab sticks if needed
  • 1/2 cup scallops
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Cut the top off the bread bowl and hollow out the center, leaving a sturdy shell.
  3. Toast the hollowed-out bread bowl lightly until crisp.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Sauté garlic and shallot until fragrant.
  3. Add shrimp and scallops; cook until just opaque, then gently fold in crab meat.
  4. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream, cream cheese, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Mix in half of the Parmesan and mozzarella until melted.
  6. Spoon the mixture into the toasted bread bowl and top with remaining cheese.
  7. Bake until golden and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot with bread pieces for dipping.

Notes

Can be customized with different seafood or vegetables. For spiciness, add red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños.
