Ingredients

For the bread bowl
  • 1 large sourdough or artisan round bread bowl
For the seafood filling
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 1/2 cup lump crab meat
  • 1/2 cup scallops
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Cut the top off the bread bowl and hollow out the center, leaving a sturdy shell. Toast the bread for 8–10 minutes until lightly crisp.
Cooking
  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté garlic and shallot for 2 minutes. Add the shrimp and scallops; cook for 3–4 minutes until just opaque.
  2. Stir in crab and warm through.
  3. Lower the heat. Add heavy cream, cream cheese, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  4. Mix in half the Parmesan and mozzarella cheese until melted.
  5. Spoon the seafood mixture into the toasted bread bowl. Top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle parsley on top. Serve hot with bread chunks for dipping.

Notes

For added flavor, consider spices like Old Bay or Cajun seasoning. For a healthier version, use low-fat cream cheese. Avoid overcooking the seafood.
