Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 2 cups pretzel crumbs Ensure they are fine for a better crust.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
For the filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese Let it sit at room temperature before mixing.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping Can substitute with fresh whipped cream if stabilized.
For the jello topping
  • 2 cups water Bring to a boil.
  • 1 pkg strawberry jello (6 oz) You can substitute with other flavors like blueberry or peach.
  • 2 cups sliced strawberries Fresh strawberries to be added to jello mixture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the pretzel crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, then let cool.
Filling
  1. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Fold in the whipped topping and spread over the cooled pretzel crust.
Topping
  1. In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the strawberry jello until dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat and add the sliced strawberries.
  3. Pour the jello mixture over the cream cheese layer.
Chilling
  1. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

This dessert is best served chilled. To serve, cut into squares and garnish with a fresh strawberry or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days, but note that the crust may soften over time.
