  • 4 to 6 pieces strawberries, sliced Plus additional for serving
  • 1/2 piece lime, juiced
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • ginger beer, for topping
  • kosher salt, for rimming

Method

Preparation
  1. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a medium-size pot.
  2. Remove the pot from heat, add the hibiscus flowers and honey. Cover and let steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain the mixture into a pitcher and discard the hibiscus flowers.
  4. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and coat it in salt.
Mixing
  1. In a cocktail shaker or glass jar, add the strawberries, lime juice, 1/4 cup of steeped tea, and orange zest. Muddle all the ingredients together to release the juices.
  2. Add the tequila, fill with ice, and shake until combined.
  3. Strain into your prepared glass, top off with ginger beer, and serve with a slice of lime.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to your taste. Experiment with different fruits; other berries or citrus fruits can also work well. For a non-alcoholic version, omit the tequila and use more ginger beer or a soda of your choice.
