Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then sear them in the skillet until golden brown on both sides.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream and minced garlic.
- Once chicken is seared, place it in a baking dish and pour the garlic-sour cream mixture over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded Jack cheese on top of the chicken.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of paprika before serving.
Notes
Smothered chicken is best served warm, paired with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
