  • 3 to 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup shredded Jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Paprika (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then sear them in the skillet until golden brown on both sides.
  3. In a bowl, mix sour cream and minced garlic.
  4. Once chicken is seared, place it in a baking dish and pour the garlic-sour cream mixture over the top.
  5. Sprinkle shredded Jack cheese on top of the chicken.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of paprika before serving.

Notes

Smothered chicken is best served warm, paired with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
