Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts Perfect for shredding
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Adds rich, smoky flavor
  • 1/4 cup zesty Italian dressing For a tangy balance
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Adds a hint of sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Deepens the flavor
For Serving
  • 6 pieces hamburger buns For serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the raw chicken breasts flat in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Make the Sauce
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, Italian dressing, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
Combine and Cook
  1. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken. Cover and cook on low until the chicken becomes very tender.
Shred the Chicken
  1. Using two forks, shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker so it absorbs all the flavorful sauce.
Assemble the Sandwiches
  1. Scoop generous portions of the shredded chicken onto hamburger buns and serve warm.

Notes

Toasting the inside of the buns helps prevent them from becoming too soft when adding the saucy chicken. This small step makes a big difference in texture.
