Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs beef (chuck roast or brisket)
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional) Adds depth of flavor
  • 2-3 pieces carrots, chopped
  • 2-3 pieces potatoes, diced
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • to taste Herbs (like thyme or rosemary) For flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large slow cooker, place the chopped onion and garlic on the bottom.
  2. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then place it on top of the onions and garlic.
  3. Add the carrots and potatoes around the beef.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and red wine if using.
  5. Add herbs for flavor.
  6. Cover and cook on low for about 6-8 hours or until the meat is tender and shreds easily with a fork.
Serving
  1. Serve Slow Cooked Meat warm, straight from the slow cooker.
  2. It pairs well with crusty bread, rice, or mashed potatoes to soak up the delicious juices.
  3. A side of steamed vegetables also makes a great addition.

Notes

Choose a good cut of beef like chuck roast or brisket for the best results. Feel free to add other vegetables like celery or parsnips for extra flavor. For a little kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce. Allow the meat to rest for a few minutes before shredding for easier handling.
