  • 4 medium Potatoes Starchy potatoes like Russets or yellow potatoes work best.
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese Feel free to add more for extra cheesiness.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Use fresh garlic for a stronger flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Dot on top of the potatoes.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For brushing the baking dish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Brush the bottom and sides of a baking dish or cast iron skillet with olive oil.
  2. Slice the potatoes crosswise into desired thickness using a mandoline or sharp knife and arrange them vertically and loosely in the prepared dish.
  3. Sprinkle garlic and Italian seasoning on top of the potatoes, and season with salt and pepper. Dot with butter.
Baking
  1. Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 60 minutes or until tender.
  2. Remove the foil, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes or until crisp.

Notes

To store leftover sliced potatoes, let them cool completely, then place them in an airtight container. They can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or skillet until heated through. Experiment with different herbs like rosemary or thyme for added flavor. Consider layering with sliced onions or adding cooked bacon bits for a smoky touch.
