  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa powder for deeper flavor.
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is at room temperature.
  • 2 large eggs Make sure to use fresh eggs.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring Adjust for a richer color, but use sparingly.
  • 1 cup buttermilk
For the Cheesecake Layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it is at room temperature.
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped cream Fold in gently for a lighter texture.
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish Store separately for freshness if uncut.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  3. In another bowl, beat the sugar and butter until creamy.
  4. Add eggs, vanilla extract, food coloring, and buttermilk, mixing until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Let it cool completely.
Cheesecake Layer
  1. For the cheesecake layer, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Fold in whipped cream gently.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled cake.
  4. Garnish with fresh strawberries and chill in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover cheesecake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. If uncut, keep strawberries separate for freshness.
