  • 2 slices thick bread (Texas toast, sourdough, brioche, or Italian bread)
  • 2–3 pieces cooked chicken tenders or 1/2 cup cooked shredded chicken Use cooked chicken for best results.
  • 3 tablespoons marinara sauce
  • to taste Cheese (mozzarella or your choice) Mozzarella is traditional, but feel free to use any cheese.
  • to taste Butter Used for spreading on bread.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread in the skillet, butter side down.
  4. Layer with chicken tenders, marinara sauce, and cheese.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread, butter side up.
  6. Cook until golden brown and cheese is melted, flipping halfway through.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

Best served hot. Pairs well with a side salad or vegetable sticks. For crispy texture, press down on the sandwich with a spatula while cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
