  • 8 oz ribeye steak, thinly sliced Slice thinly for easier cooking.
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp coarse black pepper
  • 1 tbsp canola oil For sautéing.
  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread Slice the loaf in half lengthwise.
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded Feel free to adjust the amount.
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, diced

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a pan, heat the canola oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the diced onions and bell peppers, sauté until softened.
  4. Add the sliced ribeye steak, kosher salt, and coarse black pepper, cooking until the steak is browned.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet.
  2. Distribute the steak mixture evenly over the bread halves.
  3. Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese on top.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider offering dipping sauces such as marinara or a spicy aioli. To achieve a crunchier bread, toast it lightly in the oven before adding the fillings. You can also customize with extra toppings like mushrooms or jalapeños.
