Preparation and Baking
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
- Divide the pizza dough into four equal sections. Roll or press each section into a flat circular shape.
- On one half of each dough circle, layer shredded mozzarella cheese and spoonfuls of ricotta cheese.
- Add pepperoni slices and sprinkle Italian seasoning over the filling.
- Fold the empty half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together firmly and crimp to seal.
- Poke a small hole in the top of each calzone to allow steam to escape while baking.
- Place the calzones on the prepared baking sheet and bake until the crust turns deep golden brown and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and allow cooling slightly before serving.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
Brush the tops with olive oil before baking for a delicious crust. Customize fillings with sautéed vegetables or different cheeses. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days and reheat in the oven.
