Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 1 cup chopped pecans Optionally toasted for added flavor
  • 1 box yellow cake mix Any flavor can be used, but yellow works best
  • 1 cup butter, melted Do not overmix with sugar mixture
  • 1 cup brown sugar Dark brown sugar can be used for a richer taste
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup corn syrup

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and corn syrup. Mix well.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the top.
  5. Add the chopped pecans on top of the cake mix.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Pecan Pie Dump Cake can be served warm or at room temperature. For serving, it tastes great on its own but can be topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator or freeze for longer storage.
