Main Ingredients
  • 1 package Nutter Butter cookies
  • 12 ounces yellow candy melting wafers Available in baking aisle.
  • 12 pieces Orange M&Ms for the beaks
  • small candy eyes
  • 1 tube orange decorating icing In tube or piping bag for the feet.
  • 1 piece wax paper or parchment paper For lining the baking sheet.
  • optional green paper grass For display.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Line a large baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper.
  2. Organize all ingredients and tools at the dipping station.
Melting the Candy Coating
  1. Place the yellow candy melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
Dipping the Cookies
  1. Dip each Nutter Butter cookie fully into the melted candy coating.
  2. Tap lightly to remove excess coating and place on parchment paper.
Adding Faces
  1. While the coating is still soft, press two candy eyes and one orange M&M for the beak onto each cookie.
Piping the Feet
  1. Pipe small chick feet at the bottom of each cookie using the orange decorating icing.
Setting the Coating
  1. Allow the cookies to sit at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes until firm.
Serving
  1. Arrange the finished chicks on a platter lined with green paper grass.

Notes

Best when made in small batches to keep coating soft. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate for up to one week. Allows for variations such as using white candy coating for bunnies or different seasonal decorations.
