Ingredients

For the Treats
  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal Use fresh cereal for best texture.
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter Crunchy peanut butter can be used for extra texture.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Melted before adding to mixture.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup Maple syrup makes it vegan.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper For greasing the pan.

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch square baking dish by lightly greasing it with cooking spray or lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter, honey (or maple syrup), unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  3. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals until completely smooth.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate into the peanut butter mixture and stir until well combined.
  5. In a separate large bowl, add the Rice Krispies cereal and pour the chocolate-peanut butter mixture over it.
  6. Gently fold the mixture into the Rice Krispies until evenly coated.
Assembly
  1. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish, pressing it firmly and evenly into the dish.
  2. Allow to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Once set, remove from the baking dish and place on a cutting board.
  4. Cut into squares or rectangles as desired and serve.

Notes

Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Avoid refrigerating for too long to prevent hardening. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container, separating layers with parchment paper.
