Ingredients

Base
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels Make sure they are well crushed for a good base.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
Peanut Butter Layer
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
Chocolate Layer
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips You can use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional) For smoother chocolate.

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare an 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch square baking dish by lining it with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine crushed pretzels and melted butter until the pretzels are evenly coated.
  3. Add brown sugar to the pretzel mixture and mix well until fully incorporated.
  4. Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create an even base.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth and thick but spreadable.
Layering
  1. Spread the peanut butter mixture evenly over the pretzel base in the baking dish.
  2. Microwave semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in 30-second intervals until melted and smooth.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly.
  4. Gently tap the baking dish on the counter to remove air bubbles and help layers adhere.
Setting
  1. Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until bars are firm.
  2. Once set, lift the block of bars out of the dish using the parchment overhang.
  3. Cut into squares or rectangles for serving.
Serving
  1. Serve chilled from the refrigerator. Optionally, drizzle melted chocolate or sprinkle sea salt on top.
  2. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

For a different flavor, substitute almond butter for peanut butter or add layers of caramel on top.
