Preparation
- Prepare an 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch square baking dish by lining it with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine crushed pretzels and melted butter until the pretzels are evenly coated.
- Add brown sugar to the pretzel mixture and mix well until fully incorporated.
- Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create an even base.
- In a separate bowl, combine peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth and thick but spreadable.
Layering
- Spread the peanut butter mixture evenly over the pretzel base in the baking dish.
- Microwave semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in 30-second intervals until melted and smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly.
- Gently tap the baking dish on the counter to remove air bubbles and help layers adhere.
Setting
- Place the baking dish in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until bars are firm.
- Once set, lift the block of bars out of the dish using the parchment overhang.
- Cut into squares or rectangles for serving.
Serving
- Serve chilled from the refrigerator. Optionally, drizzle melted chocolate or sprinkle sea salt on top.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
For a different flavor, substitute almond butter for peanut butter or add layers of caramel on top.
