Preparation
- Prepare the fry bread according to package instructions or make from scratch.
- In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Drain excess fat and add chopped New Mexico green chile to the cooked beef, stirring to combine.
Assembly
- Assemble the tacos by placing a fry bread round on a plate.
- Top with the beef and chile mixture, followed by shredded cheese, lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, and a dollop of sour cream.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
Serve Navajo Tacos hot and fresh, allowing everyone to add their own toppings. Extra sour cream and diced veggies can be served on the side. Store leftovers separately in airtight containers in the fridge to maintain freshness. For a vegetarian version, replace ground beef with black beans or lentils.
