Preparation
- In a bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and knead until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Shaping and Boiling
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Divide the dough into pieces, flatten each piece, place a mozzarella stick in the center, and shape it into a pretzel.
- In a pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then place on a baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
Baking
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy your gooey, cheesy delight!
