Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F) Make sure the water temperature is correct to activate the yeast.
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast Alternatively, you can use instant yeast.
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Boiling Ingredients
  • 0.25 cup baking soda Used for boiling the pretzels.
  • 1 large egg, beaten For egg wash.
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Filling
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks Feel free to experiment with different cheese types.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Shaping and Boiling
  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Divide the dough into pieces, flatten each piece, place a mozzarella stick in the center, and shape it into a pretzel.
  3. In a pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then place on a baking sheet.
  4. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy your gooey, cheesy delight!

Notes

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like marinara, mustard, or cheese sauce. Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored for later.
