Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 250 g minced meat (beef, pork, or chicken) Use your preferred type of ground meat.
  • 200 g cheese (cheddar or mozzarella), grated Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
  • 1 cup bread rolls or dough You can use premade rolls or dough.
  • 1 onion, finely chopped Adds flavor to the filling.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For added aroma and taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For sautéing onion and garlic.
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (optional) Use your favorite mix if desired.
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional) Gives a golden finish to the rolls.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  3. Add the minced meat, salt, pepper, and dried herbs. Cook until the meat is browned.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then mix in the grated cheese.
  5. Take the bread rolls or dough and flatten them out.
  6. Place a spoonful of the meat and cheese mixture in the center of each roll.
  7. Fold the dough over the filling and seal it well.
  8. Brush with egg wash if desired for a golden finish.
  9. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them in the oven at a low temperature until warmed through. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
