  • 1 cup cooked brisket, shredded
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the French bread cubes with the shredded brisket and crumbled bacon, mixing gently to distribute.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, maple syrup, bourbon, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard evenly over the bread mixture, gently stirring to ensure all cubes are well coated.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden.
  7. Serve warm with extra maple syrup drizzled on top.

Notes

Make it ahead: assemble the night before and refrigerate; bake in the morning. Swap pecans for walnuts if preferred, and add a pinch of smoked paprika for extra flavor.
