  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes Make sure they are creamy and well-seasoned.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Feel free to mix different types of cheese.
  • 0.5 cup diced onion
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Bacon bits (optional) You can use pre-cooked bacon bits to save time.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the meat mixture.
  4. Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat layer, then sprinkle with cheese and bacon bits (if using).
  5. Top with the remaining meat mixture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, paired with a green salad or steamed vegetables. For enhanced flavor, add a dollop of sour cream or more cheese on top. Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
