Ingredients
  

Chicken and Marinade
  • 4 pieces chicken (drumsticks or thighs)
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can be substitute with milk mixed with vinegar or lemon juice.
Breading Mixture
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Frying
  • oil for frying Oil for frying Use enough oil for deep frying.

Method
 

Marination and Preparation
  1. Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove chicken from the buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coat.
  3. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes.
  4. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with a side of gravy for dipping, coleslaw, or rice. For extra flavor, add your favorite spices to the flour mixture and ensure the oil is hot enough before frying.
