Iced Moroccan Mint Tea

Ingredients
  

Tea Base
  • 1.5 tablespoons loose green tea leaves Alternatively, use 4 green tea bags.
  • 4 cups boiling water About 4-5 cups should be brought to a boil.
  • 1 bunch fresh mint leaves Muddle for a stronger mint flavor if desired.
  • 3-4 tablespoons honey Adjust sweetness according to taste.
  • 1 juice of 1 lemon
Serving Ingredients
  • Ice For serving.
  • Sparkling water Optional for topping.
  • Vodka Optional, to your liking.
  • Pomegranate arils and mint For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bring about 4-5 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and add the tea leaves or tea bags. Cover and steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the fresh mint leaves, cover again, and steep for another 5 minutes.
  4. Strain the tea into a pitcher. Add honey to taste and the lemon juice, stirring well.
  5. Chill the tea in the refrigerator until it’s cold.
Serving
  1. Serve the tea over ice, top it with sparkling water, and add vodka if desired.
  2. Garnish with pomegranate arils and fresh mint.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for optimal freshness within 2-3 days. Keep the tea base without ice and garnishes for later use. Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey. For a different twist, try infusing the tea with slices of peach or berries.
