Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter, divided
  • 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp seasoned rice vinegar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the chicken breasts into thinner pieces for even cooking. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper, then lightly coat each piece with flour.
Cooking the Chicken
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chicken and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set it aside.
Making the Sauce
  1. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the remaining butter to the pan, followed by the sliced garlic. Sauté for 30–60 seconds, just until fragrant — be careful not to burn it!
  2. Pour in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey. Stir well, scraping up any flavorful bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Let the sauce simmer for 4–5 minutes until it thickens slightly and becomes glossy.
Coating and Serving
  1. Return the chicken to the pan, tossing to coat it thoroughly in the sauce. Simmer for another minute, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully.
  2. Sprinkle with sliced green onions for freshness and serve immediately over steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or noodles.

Notes

Don't overcook the garlic. Use thin chicken pieces for even cooking. Taste the sauce before finishing; adjust sweetness or saltiness as needed. For extra depth, add a splash of lemon juice or chili flakes to the sauce.
