  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour.
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp oil Can omit, but affects texture.
  • 3/4 cup warm water Warm water helps dough come together.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add oil and warm water. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and soft.
  4. Cover and let the dough rest for 20–30 minutes.
  5. Divide into 8 equal balls.
  6. Roll each ball into a thin round circle.
Cooking
  1. Heat a pan on medium heat. Cook each tortilla for 30–40 seconds on one side until bubbles appear.
  2. Flip and cook the other side. Do not overcook. Keep them soft and stack under a clean towel.

Notes

Tips for making perfect tortillas include using warm water and kneading the dough until smooth and elastic. Do not roll the tortillas too thick for better cooking.
