Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk Warm slightly but not hot.
  • 2.25 teaspoons dry yeast Active dry yeast.
  • 1 large egg At room temperature.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar For the dough.
  • 3.75 cups all-purpose flour Plus extra for dusting.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3.5 tablespoons butter Melted and at room temperature.
Frying Ingredients
  • 2 cups vegetable oil For frying.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar For coating.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Warm the milk slightly until lukewarm.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, dry yeast, sugar, and egg, and let sit briefly.
  3. Add flour and salt to the mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Incorporate the butter and knead until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes.
  6. Divide the risen dough into about 12 portions.
  7. Roll each portion into long strands and twist or braid them.
Frying
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan until frying temperature.
  2. Carefully fry twisted dough pieces until golden on all sides.
  3. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. While warm, roll donuts in granulated sugar for coating.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

Notes

Allow dough to rise fully for light texture. Maintain consistent oil temperature for even cooking. Roll in sugar immediately after frying for best results.
