  • 4 large large eggs Use fresh eggs for the best flavor and texture.
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup Try using different sweeteners like honey or agave if preferred.
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (dairy or dairy-free) For a vegan version, use dairy-free milk.
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or coconut cream) For a lighter version, use low-fat milk and skip the heavy cream.
  • 1/3 cup brandy or bourbon Omit for a non-alcoholic version.
  • 1/3 cup rum Omit for a non-alcoholic version.
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg Adjust to taste.
  • Ground cinnamon or cinnamon sticks for garnish Use for garnish and extra flavor.

Preparation
  1. Blend the eggs and maple syrup in a high-powered blender for 4 minutes on high speed.
  2. Add the milk, heavy cream, brandy, rum, and nutmeg to the blender. Blend for an additional 10 seconds to mix everything well.
  3. Pour the eggnog into an airtight container and refrigerate until it is chilled.
  4. When ready to serve, stir the eggnog, then pour into cups. Garnish with cinnamon sticks or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

Homemade eggnog is best served chilled and can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 2 to 3 days. Always stir before serving, as ingredients may separate over time. You can make it ahead of time, up to a couple of days in advance.
