Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold and grated) Use very cold butter for flaky layers.
  • 3/4 cup milk Add a little extra milk if needed.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking dish or skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until evenly mixed.
  3. Grate the cold butter and mix it into the flour using your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the milk and mix gently until a dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and gently pat it down to about 1½ inches thick.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out shapes and place them on a prepared baking dish. Avoid twisting the cutter to ensure proper rising.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18–20 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Store biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. You can freeze both baked and unbaked biscuits for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 300°F for a few minutes or microwave briefly until warm.
