  • 1 pound ground beef Use seasoned ground beef for added flavor.
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Slice thinly for even cooking.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese Cheddar or your choice.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with cream of chicken.
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, thyme, or other seasonings Add as per preference.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef along with chopped onions until the beef is cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, and seasonings.
Layering and Baking
  1. In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese.
  2. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, finishing with cheese on top.
  3. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  4. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden.
  5. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal. Add fresh herbs on top for a colorful touch.
