Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Frying
  • Oil for frying Use a neutral oil with a high smoke point.
  • Powdered sugar for topping Use for dusting before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil; fry until golden brown on both sides.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Serve the donuts warm, dusted with powdered sugar. Enjoy them plain or with chocolate/caramel sauce. Store them in an airtight container for 1-2 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to a week. You can freeze them for up to a month.
