Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's softened for easy creaming.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
Filling
  • 2-3 medium apples, peeled and sliced Feel free to use different types of apples.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Adjust based on taste preference.
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Arrange the sliced apples on top of the batter, then sprinkle with cinnamon and lemon juice.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Pairs well with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
