  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of bread
  • 1 cup 1 cup of shredded cheese
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup of pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup of cooked sausage or ground beef Can substitute with other meats or omit for vegetarian option.
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup of chopped peppers and onions Feel free to customize with other vegetables.
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon of olive oil For brushing on top for extra crispiness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cheese, pepperoni, sausage, chopped peppers, onions, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly on the bread halves.
Baking
  1. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

Garbage Bread is best served hot right out of the oven with marinara sauce for dipping. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the bread before baking for up to 2 months.
