Ingredients

For the Batter
  • 2 large large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For Frying
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Use enough oil to submerge the funnel cake sticks.
Frying
  1. Pour the batter into a funnel or piping bag, making a small hole at the tip for easy pouring.
  2. Carefully drizzle the batter into the hot oil in a criss-cross pattern, allowing the sticks to overlap slightly.
  3. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn.
  4. Remove the funnel cake sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serving
  1. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving to add a sweet finish.

Notes

Funnel Cake Sticks are best served fresh and warm. Consider serving with dipping sauces like chocolate, caramel, or fruit preserves. They are best enjoyed on the same day, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days. Reheat in a low-temperature oven for crispiness.
