Preparation
- In a saucepan over low heat, gently warm 1 cup of milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla. Whisk until just combined, but do not let it boil!
- Remove from heat immediately and pour the mixture into a liquid measuring cup. Add the remaining 1 cup of milk to it. Refrigerate until serving or move to the next step right away.
- Prepare your Homemade whipped cream or vegan whipped cream at this time if you plan to serve the drink with whipped cream.
- In a blender, combine the chocolate mixture with the ice cubes. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Serving
- Serve in chilled glasses and top with whipped cream if desired. Optionally, add sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or a drizzle of syrup for extra flair.
Notes
If leftovers remain, store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 days. Let sit at room temperature for a few minutes and then blend again for a smooth consistency.
