Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups 2 cups 2% milk (or dairy-free milk of your choice)
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for richer flavor
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup maple syrup Adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 cups 4 cups ice Blend well to avoid ice chunks
Serving Optional
  • Homemade whipped cream or vegan whipped cream For serving, optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan over low heat, gently warm 1 cup of milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla. Whisk until just combined, but do not let it boil!
  2. Remove from heat immediately and pour the mixture into a liquid measuring cup. Add the remaining 1 cup of milk to it. Refrigerate until serving or move to the next step right away.
  3. Prepare your Homemade whipped cream or vegan whipped cream at this time if you plan to serve the drink with whipped cream.
  4. In a blender, combine the chocolate mixture with the ice cubes. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Serving
  1. Serve in chilled glasses and top with whipped cream if desired. Optionally, add sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or a drizzle of syrup for extra flair.

Notes

If leftovers remain, store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 days. Let sit at room temperature for a few minutes and then blend again for a smooth consistency.
