Ingredients
  

Vegetables
  • 4 cups Cucumbers Fresh and crisp for best texture.
Pickling Solution
  • 1 cup Vinegar White vinegar or apple cider vinegar works well.
  • 1 cup Water Use filtered water for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons Salt Kosher or pickling salt recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Adjust according to taste; can add more for sweeter pickles.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Crushed or whole according to preference.
  • 1 tablespoon Dill Fresh dill is preferable; can substitute with dried.
  • 1 teaspoon Peppercorns Add more for extra spice.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice cucumbers into your desired shape (slices, spears, etc.).
  2. In a pot, combine vinegar, water, salt, sugar, garlic, and peppercorns.
Cooking
  1. Heat the mixture until the salt and sugar dissolve.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Storage
  1. Place cucumbers in a jar and pour the vinegar mixture over them.
  2. Add fresh dill.
  3. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.

Notes

Store Easy Pickles in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 weeks. Keep the cucumbers fully submerged in the liquid for longer freshness. You can experiment with spices like mustard seeds or red pepper flakes for unique flavors. Adding other vegetables like carrots or onions can provide extra variety. For spiced pickles, include extra herbs and spices such as bay leaves or chili flakes.
