DIY Hanging Bottle Face Planters

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces Empty plastic bottles Any type of clean, dry plastic bottle.
  • 1 bottle Acrylic paint Choose vibrant colors.
  • 1 set Paint brushes For applying paint.
  • 1 piece Scissors or craft knife For cutting the bottles.
  • 1 piece Rope or strong thread To hang the planters.
  • 1 piece Wooden stick or branch For hanging the planters.
  • 1 bag Soil Potting soil recommended.
  • 3-5 pieces Small flowers or plants Consider succulents, moss rose, or tiny trailing plants.
  • 1 piece Nail or drill for holes To create hanging holes.
  • 1 can Clear sealer (optional) To protect paint outdoors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash and dry the bottles.
  2. Cut the bottom portion of the bottles open to create the planter opening, keeping the bottle cap attached.
Painting
  1. Paint the bottles bright yellow or any fun color.
  2. Let the paint dry fully, adding a second coat for better coverage.
Designing Faces
  1. Use black and red paint or markers to create faces like smiley faces and winking faces.
  2. Let dry completely.
Making Hanging Holes
  1. Create two holes near the top sides of each bottle.
  2. Thread the rope through the holes, tying knots securely.
Preparing the Hanging Branch
  1. Use a wooden stick or tree branch to hang the planters.
  2. Tie each planter at different heights for a playful look.
Planting
  1. Fill the bottles with potting soil.
  2. Add small flowers, moss rose, succulents, or tiny trailing plants.
Hanging the Planters
  1. Hang the planters on balcony walls, garden spaces, patios, or kids’ play areas.

Notes

Store planters out of direct sunlight to avoid fading and damage to paint. Water the plants if storing for a short time. Use vibrant colors and ensure drainage holes are at the bottom. Personalize each planter for uniqueness.
