- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Shape the mixture into hot dog-sized sausages.
- Wrap each beef sausage with bacon strips and secure with toothpicks.
- In another bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, paprika, buttermilk, and egg to create a batter.
Cooking
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each bacon-wrapped sausage into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
- Carefully place the coated sausages in the hot oil and fry until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes).
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
Notes
Serve with ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce. Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying for a crispy outside. Don’t overcrowd the frying pot; cook in batches if necessary. Experiment with different dipping sauces like BBQ or honey mustard for a twist.
