Ingredients
  

For the Corn Dogs
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • to taste Bacon strips
  • to taste Cheddar cheese
  • for frying Vegetable oil

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Shape the mixture into hot dog-sized sausages.
  2. Wrap each beef sausage with bacon strips and secure with toothpicks.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, paprika, buttermilk, and egg to create a batter.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Dip each bacon-wrapped sausage into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
  3. Carefully place the coated sausages in the hot oil and fry until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

Notes

Serve with ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce. Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying for a crispy outside. Don’t overcrowd the frying pot; cook in batches if necessary. Experiment with different dipping sauces like BBQ or honey mustard for a twist.
