  • 1 lb ground beef Browned and drained before adding.
  • 4-5 pieces potatoes, diced Yukon Gold recommended for best texture.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Added at the end for melting.
  • 3/4 cup cooked bacon, crumbled Provides smoky flavor.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Creates a rich sauce.
  • 1 small onion, diced Cooked with ground beef.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder For seasoning the casserole.
  • Salt and pepper Essential base seasoning.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Dice the potatoes into roughly 3/4 inch cubes and layer them in the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium-high heat until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess grease and add to the crockpot.
  3. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper over the beef layer.
  4. Pour heavy cream over the entire casserole.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours or until potatoes are tender.
  6. In the last 5 minutes, sprinkle cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon on top to melt.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy while the cheese is gooey.

Notes

For a cheeseburger twist, consider adding diced pickles or drizzling with burger sauce made from mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish.
