  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Method

Marinate the Chicken
  1. Marinate the chicken by placing drumsticks in buttermilk with salt and pepper for at least 1 hour.
Prepare the Coating
  1. Prepare the crispy coating by mixing flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Coat the chicken thoroughly in this mixture.
Fry the Chicken
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the drumsticks for 12–15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Prepare the Fries
  1. Cut the russet potatoes into sticks.
  2. Toss them with vegetable oil and seasoning salt, then bake or fry until they are golden and crispy.
Prepare the Slaw
  1. Mix shredded cabbage, grated carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt and pepper in a bowl.
Serve
  1. Serve everything plated together: the crispy chicken, fries, a side of ketchup for dipping, and the creamy slaw.

Notes

Allow the chicken to marinate for longer if possible. Make sure the oil is at the right temperature before frying the chicken. Let the fried chicken rest on paper towels after frying to absorb excess oil for a crispier result. For variation, add cayenne pepper to the coating or use spicy mayonnaise in the slaw.
