Cooking Pasta
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Making the Sauce
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender and browned (about 5-7 minutes).
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Combining
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss until well coated with the creamy sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of water or cream to loosen up the sauce. Consider adding fresh herbs or a pinch of red pepper flakes for an extra flavor boost. Avoid freezing the dish as the cream may separate when thawed, but the sauce can be frozen separately.
