Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice) Use a mix of cheeses for more flavor.
  • 1 cup heavy cream or milk Can substitute with low-fat milk, but the sauce may be less rich.
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Used to make a roux.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, or any spices you like Add spices to elevate the taste.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the flour and whisk for about 1 minute to create a roux.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while continuously whisking to avoid lumps.
  4. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  5. Gradually add the shredded cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and any additional spices.
  7. Serve warm over pasta, vegetables, or as a dip.

Notes

If you have leftover cheese sauce, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Reheat gently on the stove and add a splash of milk or cream if needed.
