Ingredients

Meat Mixture
  • 1 pound lean ground beef Use 1 to 1 1/2 pounds for desired serving size.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • Salt to taste
Assembly Ingredients
  • Tortilla shells
  • Shredded cheese (like cheddar or a blend)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the taco seasoning and salt, stirring to combine.
Assembly
  1. Take a tortilla shell, spread a layer of the beef mixture on top, and add a second tortilla shell.
  2. Add more beef mixture and top with cheese.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes or until the tortillas are crispy and the cheese is melted.
  2. Remove from oven, let cool for a bit, then slice and serve.

Notes

Serve hot and pair with toppings like sour cream, salsa, or jalapeños. For extra flavor, add some diced bell peppers or black olives to the beef mixture. Baking the tortilla shells for a few minutes before adding the toppings will give you a crispy crust. Experiment with different types of cheese for a new twist each time.
