Preparation
- Boil the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to make a roux.
- Slowly add the milk to the roux, whisking continuously until it thickens.
Cooking
- Add the cheese to the sauce and stir until melted.
- Combine the pasta with the cheese sauce and mix well.
- If you like a crunchy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
Serve hot in bowls with optional extra cheese on top or sprinkled with herbs. Pairs well with a salad or garlic bread. Store cooled leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
