  • 1 large loaf large round loaf of Italian bread
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 pound sliced mortadella
  • 1/2 pound sliced salami
  • 1/2 pound sliced provolone cheese
  • 1 cup olive salad (or chopped green olives, pickled vegetables, and herbs) You can use pre-made olive salad or make your own.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the Italian bread in half horizontally.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil and red wine vinegar.
  3. Brush the mixture on the insides of the bread.
  4. Layer the mortadella, salami, and provolone on the bottom half of the bread.
  5. Spoon the olive salad evenly over the meats and cheese.
  6. Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich and press down gently.
  7. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and let it rest for an hour at room temperature (or refrigerate for up to 24 hours).
  8. Slice into wedges and serve.

Notes

For the best flavor, serve at room temperature. This sandwich can be customized with different ingredients according to your preference. Store wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container.
