  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a large pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain the excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is soft.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, and cumin.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Notes

Serve hot with toppings like shredded cheese, green onions, or sour cream. Pairs well with cornbread or crusty bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge, or freeze for up to 3 months.
