Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Beat in one at a time.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Add more for a spicier flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cream Cheese Mixture
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. Fold the cream cheese mixture into the dough until just combined.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden but the centers are soft.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be served with a light dusting of powdered sugar on top. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. Don't overmix the dough after adding the cream cheese; it should stay slightly lumpy for better texture.
