  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease the ramekins with butter and dust with flour.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate chips together until smooth. Stir well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  4. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mix and stir to combine.
  5. Gently fold in the flour and vanilla extract until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into the prepared ramekins.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
Serving
  1. Carefully invert the ramekins onto serving plates.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

Make sure not to overbake the cakes for the perfect lava effect. Greasing and dusting the ramekins will help the cakes release easily. The batter can be prepared in advance and refrigerated before baking.
