Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Use fresh for the best flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until donuts are lightly golden.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Delicious on their own but can be paired with chocolate glaze or powdered sugar.
